This presentation will explore trauma-informed supervision, with particular attention devoted to the value of presence in the supervisory sessions and relationship. This trauma-informed supervisory approach is designed to address the emotional and educational needs for clinicians and clinicians-in-training in diverse settings, but is especially beneficial for those supporting clients with trauma and substance use concerns. Due to the comorbid nature of trauma and substance use, both clients and clinicians benefit from trauma-informed supervision in the treatment of substance use disorders. The presenter will provide an overview of key components of trauma-informed clinical supervision in these types of integrated settings and use a case study to highlight the importance of supervision and its impact on the supervisee's ability to provide bedside support to patients in an acute trauma center.
