This 1-hour webinar explores the American Counseling Association (ACA) guidelines for screening and assessment, emphasizing the importance of thoughtfully selecting and appropriately applying assessment techniques, including personal interviews, to help determine client care needs, level and type of treatment, and appropriate follow-up services. The webinar also highlights common challenges, such as relying on ineffective screening tools or reading assessments verbatim, which may limit the clinician’s ability to uncover critical information and identify protective factors that can help mitigate the impact of adverse experiences and trauma. Participants will be introduced to the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) questionnaire as a practical tool to support more comprehensive, trauma-informed, and client-centered assessment and treatment planning.
