Professional Development Training is a critical element for every clinical mental health counselor and is a central core of LCCNC's mission.

The LCCNC Board of Directors and the Events Committee cordially invites North Carolina graduate students to submit a poster session topic to present at the annual conference.

LCCNC invites master's and doctoral level counseling students to submit poster presentations for our 2026 annual conference. This two-day event highlights evidence-informed approaches, community-centered interventions, and the lived experiences of marginalized and underserved populations.

We welcome student poster submissions that explore topics related to counseling and mental health, including but not limited to:

  • Violence across the lifespan, including intimate partner, family, gender-based, and abuse impacting minority or Indigenous communities

  • Survivor empowerment, culturally grounded practice, and systems-level advocacy

  • Trauma-informed care, community-centered interventions, or evidence-based counseling approaches

  • Social justice, equity, and advocacy in counseling practice


Eligibility:

  • Must be a master's or doctoral level counseling student at a regionally accredited institution.

  • Posters should demonstrate knowledge, research, or practice relevant to counseling or mental health.

Poster Submission Guidelines:

  • Individual or group submissions are welcome.

  • Posters should clearly communicate your research, clinical project, or community-based initiative.

  • All submissions must include:

    • brief abstract (150–250 words)

    • At least 3 learning objectives for conference attendees

    • Relevant references or evidence supporting your work

Recommended Topics:

  • Prevention, intervention, or recovery models

  • Experiences and needs of marginalized, minority, LGBTQIA+, rural, or Indigenous communities

  • Community partnerships, survivor voices, or advocacy efforts

  • Trauma assessment, neuroscience, ethics, or emerging clinical practices


When submitting your poster conference proposal, please consider the following: 
  • LCCNC is a 501(c6) nonprofit professional membership association dedicated to the profession of licensed clinical mental health counseling. 
  • Aside from the importance of advocacy to advance and promote our profession, LCCNC focuses on promoting excellence in professional development.
  • If you are not currently an LCCNC member, we welcome and encourage you to become a member. In terms of presentations, LCCNC Members will receive first consideration.
  • We would be honored to have you and your colleagues join our inner circle of many esteemed members.
To be accepted as an LCCNC graduate student poster session presenter, one must:
Be enrolled in a graduate degree program in a mental health field from a regionally accredited educational institution. 

 


 

We are accepting proposal topics which are of an evidence-based clinical paradigm in all areas of importance in the clinical mental health counseling profession. However, preference will be given to topics within the following Conference topics:

  • Focus on prevention, intervention, or recovery models
  • Highlight experiences and needs of marginalized, minority, LGBTQIA+, rural, or Indigenous communities
  • Elevate survivor voices, community partnerships, or social justice advocacy
  • Incorporate culturally responsive, trauma-informed, or community-rooted approaches
  • Offer practical skills that counselors can use in clinical, school, community, or integrated care settings
  • Neuroscience and Mental Health
  • Trauma Assessment and Diagnosis
  • Evidenced-Based and Emerging Practices
  • Ethical considerations, interventions, and approaches to Telehealth
  • Clinical Supervision and Ethics
  • Addictions/Substance Abuse
  • Address violence, trauma, safety, and healing across diverse populations.
Furthermore, to be accepted as a conference proposal, the proposal must fall within one of the following counseling categories:
  • Counseling Theory/Practice and the Counseling Relationship
  • Human Growth and Development
  • Social and Cultural Foundations
  • Group Dynamics and Counseling
  • Lifestyle and Career Development
  • Assessment 
  • Research and Program Evaluation
  • Professional Counseling Identity and Practice Issues
  • Wellness and Prevention 
All conference proposals must include a brief abstract or training synopsis (description of program) and a minimum of 3 learning objectives.
