Be a part of NC Clinical History! LCCNC Vote is now! It is with great excitement that the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of North Carolina launches a new update of our amazing association. In November 2019, The North Carolina Senate and House passed the Senate Bill 537 that changed the name of licensed counselors from Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC) to LIcensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors (LCMHC). Upon this shift in the profession, it was determined by the LPCANC Board that to best serve members of our association, our name also needed to change.
After much discussion within LPCANC leadership and data collection from membership, the name Licensed Clinical Counselors of North Carolina was voted in during the LPCANC Board meeting August 2022.
The Board felt it necessary to create an individualized reflection of the updated credential that was bold, clean, and clinical. The logo design also reflects how as licensed clinical counselors we cover the state of North Carolina with strength and steadfastness. LCCNC name and logo were then revealed live at the 25th Silver Anniversary State Conference President’s Reception Septembers 30th, 2023.
Your vote will become part of North Carolina clinical history! Election open through February 12th. |
To NC Medicaid Associations:
On April 1, 2023, approximately 55,000 children receiving NC Health Choice health coverage will move to Medicaid and begin receiving additional physical and behavioral health services. This change will help save families money and increase access to care. NC Health Choice beneficiaries do not need to do anything to move to the Medicaid program. The move is automatic. A provision included in the North Carolina state budget, approved in July 2022, directed the NC Department of Health and Human Services to move NC Health Choice beneficiaries to the Medicaid program.
Families with children moving from NC Health Choice to Medicaid will no longer have to pay enrollment fees or copays for medical visits and prescriptions. They will also have assistance getting to and from medical appointments through Non-Emergency Medical Transportation services and Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment — a benefit designed to discover and treat health conditions before they become serious. People impacted by this change should look for a letter in the mail from their local Department of Social Services in early March. They will get a new Medicaid ID card in the mail; however, their Medicaid ID (Recipient ID) will not change. They can continue to use the card they have now until the new one arrives.
A press release announcing the move is available on the NCDHHS website. For more information, visit the NC Health Choice webpage at medicaid.ncdhhs.gov/nc-health-choice-move-medicaid. |
Across the nation and North Carolina, employers and institutions are encountering the many intersecting factors that contribute to chronic health care workforce shortages. These shortages undermine the work environment for current workers and can be a threat to patient safety, quality of care, and ultimately, North Carolina’s ability to grow its economy.
On behalf of the NC Chamber Foundation and the NC Center on the Workforce for Health, we invite you to a webinar on "Building & Managing Talent Pipelines in Health Care." Learn how other states are addressing labor shortages in health care with the employer-led framework—Talent Pipeline Management® (TPM). Biden-Harris Administration Set to End the COVID Public Health Emergency
This week, the Biden-Harris Administration outlined its plans to shift away from pandemic-related emergency declarations. In a Statement of Administration Policy (SAP) issued on January 30, the White House announced that it will extend both the COVID-19 national emergency and PHE on March 1 and April 11, respectively. As of now, the Administration plans to extend the emergency declarations to May 11, and then end both measures on that date. The conclusion of the PHE marks the cessation of several temporary authorities afforded by the declaration. For additional details on the health-related policies and programs that are set to wind down, click here.
