This 1 hour webinar presentation supports supervisors with recently published, evidence-based models and skills for best practices in ethical counseling supervision. This presentation facilitates new knowledge regarding developmental approaches to clinical supervision that are humanistic, multicultural and culturally responsive for diverse clients and counselors in diverse settings, including how to provide culturally sensitive corrective feedback in supervision. This topic enhances the practice of counseling supervision through the promotion of culturally sustaining and responsive counseling supervision models and introduces supervisors to new creative, culturally sustaining supervision tools and techniques, including the Supervision House, the Reflective Roadmap and Mutual Storytelling techniques.
EVENT:
The workshop is designed to help participants:
1.Participants will gain knowledge regarding 4 new, evidence-based humanistic and culturally sustaining counseling supervision models.
2.Participants will learn strategies, skills and techniques for providing humanistic and culturally sensitive corrective feedback in supervision.
3.Participants will learn new evidence-based, creative, culturally sustaining supervision tools and techniques, including the Supervision House, the Reflective Roadmap and Mutual Storytelling techniques. Participants will have the opportunity to participate in a supervision case study example to demonstrate and discuss their new supervision skills and techniques.
PRESENTER:
Dr. Tara M. Gray, Clinical Faculty in the Counseling Department at Prescott College since 2018, is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Addiction Counselor, Licensed Professional School Counselor, Approved Clinical Supervisor, and Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor with over 30 years of experience across settings, including private practice, university clinic and career centers, residential treatment, and K-12 schools. To date, she has served over 6,000 clients and students and taught over 100 graduate counselor education courses. She currently serves clients in her private practice, Dr. Tara Gray Counseling & Wellness, is contracted with 45 health insurance companies, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Colorado Providers Association and the Southwest Colorado Canyons Alliance. She is also a subject matter expert and grant reviewer for the US Dept of Health and Human Services, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service, and the Office of the Administration for Children and Families. Dr. Gray recently published in The SAGE Encyclopedia of Multicultural Counseling, Social Justice, and Advocacy (“Determinism,” 2023, pp. 446-448). She has presented over 67 times and published 13 articles on best practices in counseling and counselor education at local, state, regional, national and international conferences. She has earned 8 awards and written 21 grants funded at over half a million dollars. Dr. Gray has also served in 34 different professional service volunteer leadership roles.
Rachel G. Ellenberger, Ph.D., is a Counselor Educator, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate, and has over 5 years of experience as a School Counselor. Dr. Ellenberger has a person-centered approach in her clinical practice to address anxiety, depression, relationships/family dynamics, transitions in life, communication, and confidence. In addition to professional counseling, Dr. Ellenberger is a member of multiple professional organizations and has presented on various counseling topics at Chicago School of Psychology, Association for Child and Adolescent Counseling, RMACES, Prescott College, and Association for Humanistic Counseling.
