EVENT: 

The workshop is designed to help participants:

1.Participants will be able to identify suicide risk factors in clients using an evidence-based framework, including PHQ-9 Item 9 and the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS).

2.Participants will be able to assess the severity and immediacy of suicide risk using the QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) model in alignment with North Carolina regulatory standards.

3.Participants will be able to respond effectively to clients at risk, applying intervention strategies and safety triaging consistent with Involuntary Commitment (IVC) protocols.

4. Participants will be able to integrate clinical and regulatory knowledge to make informed decisions that protect client safety while maintaining ethical and professional standards.

PRESENTER: 

Brandi Goss Burchett holds a Master of Arts in Counseling from Webster University (2009) and a Master of Business Administration. She is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor (LCMHCS) in North Carolina and maintains multiple advanced credentials including National Certified Counselor (NCC), Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS), Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS), Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP),and  Master Addiction Counselor (MAC). 

Brandi has over 15 years of experience in behavioral health, with extensive work across outpatient, crisis, substance use, trauma, and integrated care settings. She has provided direct clinical services, developed crisis protocols, overseen safety and triage systems, and implemented supervision models that align with North Carolina regulations and best practice standards. She has completed over 120 hours of continuing education in clinical supervision and has supervised master’s-level students, associate-licensed clinicians, addiction professionals, and emerging supervisors.

Brandi currently serves at Phoenix Counseling Center, where she has been employed since October 2025. In her leadership capacity, she oversees outpatient and crisis programming, supports clinical supervision infrastructure, and focuses on strengthening safety, assessment, and triage processes to ensure regulatory compliance and high-quality care delivery. Brandi also has a private telehealth practice serving NC, MD and Alaska.
