Event Description
This is an hour long CE training that is centered around Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The primary purpose is to educate counselors about the impact of interpersonal violence on counseling clients and clinical considerations to utilize when working with survivors.

EVENT: 

The workshop is designed to help participants:

1. Identify signs and symptoms of domestic violence: Equip counselors with the knowledge to recognize signs of trauma in clients who have been exposed to domestic violence.

2. Understand implications of DV on mental health: Help counselors explore the psychological effects of domestic violence to better address the emotional and behavioral needs of clients.

3. Develop trauma informed strategies for supporting survivors: Provide counselors with practical tools and techniques to create a safe and empowering environment for clients.


PRESENTER: 

Rachel Kane is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate currently working at a group practice in Durham. Rachel began her counseling career working at a family crisis center where she provided inpatient and outpatient services to survivors of interpersonal violence and sexual assault. This frontline experience shaped her unwavering commitment to trauma-informed care and survivor advocacy. Rachel is passionate about breaking the silence surrounding trauma, championing awareness, and dismantling the stigma around interpersonal violence and sexual assault.
