EVENT:

1.Participants will discuss information and education on considerations for clinical practice when working with individuals dealing with issues associated with grief, death and dying. 2. Participants will explain what and how we grieve.
3. Participants will explain Loss and the ripple effects of death and receive information on Presence, Support and Best Practices.

PRESENTER:

Dr. Valerie G Balog, LCMHCS (NC) is a counselor educator and supervisor as well as a practicing therapist. Dr. Balog graduated from California State University of PA with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work with an emphasis on the medical setting, her Master’s degree is from Winthrop University in Community Counseling and her Doctorate is from the University of Virginia in Counselor Education and Supervision. 

Dr. Balog worked as the program director and clinical site supervisor for 13 years at UNC-Charlotte and since July 2018 has worked as a clinical faculty member at Southern New Hampshire University’s on-line Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. In addition to her role as a counselor educator, Dr. Balog has worked in the Charlotte community at both an agency level and since 2010 in her own small private practice where she provides individual support to clients as well as couple’s and serves as an approved supervisor for clinicians working toward the completion of their post-graduate clinical hours.
