The workshop is designed to help participants

1. Understand the Key Distinctions: Participants will be able to differentiate between the roles and responsibilities of a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor (LCMHCS) and a Qualified Supervisor (QS).

2. Role Clarification: Participants will gain clarity on the specific duties and ethical considerations unique to each credential.

3. Supervision Best Practices: Participants will learn best practices in supervision, including effective techniques for supporting supervisees’ professional growth and development.

4. Regulatory and Ethical Guidelines: Participants will become familiar with the regulatory and ethical guidelines that govern both LCMHCS and QS roles, ensuring compliance and promoting ethical practice.

This webinar aims to elucidate the distinctions, roles, and responsibilities associated with the Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor (LCMHCS) and the Qualified Supervisor (QS) credentials. It is designed for mental health professionals and LCMHC’s who are pursuing these credentials or who are currently supervising counselors. Through detailed discussions, practical examples, and interactive Q&A sessions, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of how to navigate the requirements and expectations of these critical supervisory roles. The webinar will also address the ethical and regulatory frameworks that underpin these practices, equipping participants with the knowledge to perform their supervisory duties with confidence and integrity.

PRESENTERS:

Brandice Bell
has served as the Assistant Executive Director at NCBLCMHC since July 2022. She initially joined NCBLCMHC in 2017 as the Supervision Specialist and later became Volunteer Coordinator and Program Manager at NBCC Foundation. Before her time at NBCC, Brandice worked for eight years in the Economic Services Division of the Guilford County Department of Health and Human Services. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Pfeiffer University and a Master of Arts in Human Services Counseling with a concentration in Crisis and Trauma from Liberty University and has over 15 years of experience in non-profit settings.

Melonie Davis is a nationally board-certified and licensed counselor based in North Carolina, currently holding the position of Executive Director for the North Carolina Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors. With an extensive background spanning over 15 years in the field of mental health, Melonie has demonstrated a deep commitment to fostering stronger therapeutic relationships between clients and mental health professionals. Melonie obtained her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wake Forest University in August 2017. Prior to her current role, she served as Program Manager for the National Board for Certified Counselors Foundation (NBCCF). Her scholarly contributions include the publication of research on "Promoting Representation within Counselor Education and Supervision Doctoral Programs" in the peer-reviewed Journal, "The Professional Counselor" (co-authored with Dr. Susan Branco).Committed to the advancement of mental health, Melonie actively provides guidance and support to emerging counselors and those early in their career development. She champions the continued growth of minority professionals and advocates for increased diversity in counseling, recognizing that mental health challenges affect individuals regardless of race, ethnicity, sexuality, religion, or nationality. Melonie's dedication extends beyond her professional endeavors; she prioritizes advocacy, mentorship, and service as integral components of her mission. Her overarching goal is to lead a life characterized by integrity and empathy, serving as a positive influence in the lives of others. Through her creativity, positivity, and collaborative spirit, Melonie strives to enhance the well-being of those around her, inspiring and being inspired in turn. As a fervent leader, she endeavors to achieve her life's goals by fostering harmony and cooperation among her peers.
