The workshop is designed to help participants:
1. Participants will understand the difference between sex and gender.
2. Participants will demonstrate how to ask a client about pronouns.
3. Participants will identify outdated language.
PRESENTER:
Katherine Bridges (Katie) is originally from the Washington D.C. area and has been practicing in the Triangle for over 10 years. She received both of her undergraduate degrees, a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology and a Bachelors of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from North Carolina State University. She received her Masters of Science from the School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 2023, she received a dual post graduate certificate in Sex Therapy and Sex Education from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
Katie has worked in a variety of clinical settings including UNC's Abdominal Solid Organ Transplant Unit, Durham's VA Hospital, Carolina House Eating Disorder Treatment Center, and most recently, in her own private practice, established in 2020.
Katie utilizes evidence-based practices including person centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). In her first year of private practice she was awarded as Indy Week's Best Therapist in the Triangle. She has been a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) since 2017.
